A very nice reel that was given to our family about 40 years ago, not used since but always kept clean, lubed and ready to fish. I have over 40 Penn reels and so many are not being used, I have to make room for the ones I do use. I have kept this around thinking I would go wire line trolling but I can't fool myself any longer. I never troll. This reel is in excellent working order, drag washers and maintenance are kept up, everything works smoothly and this is ready to fish. I see many Super Mariners for sale but this vintage reel has the engraved left side plate which I am sure is of value to collectors, and looks great while on the boat. It has a shot of pink Ande 30 mono on it to be used for backing, comes with the rod clamp. A few light scratches on the side plate chrome rings, but it is hard to handle without leaving finger prints. A really nice reel. REELS PENN : CHEAP AND QUALITY

From Estate in New England: Vintage & outstanding quality, PENN “Master Mariner” Model #349 composed of chromed brass & red Bakelite from back in the 1950s era when Penn deep sea reels set the standard for the industry. The last of four (4) Penn reels we acquired, this vintage Master Mariner Reel measures about 4 ½”high from base of chromed reel seat to top of the side-plate bands, and is about 2 ½” in width from outside edge to outside edge across the chrome reinforcing bands on the red Bakelite side-plates, with three (3) pairs of chromed brass pillars holding the plates apart. The original, chromed spool is approx. 1 5/8” in width and is empty of line as shown. Reel has a full sized, off-set 3 ¾” chromed handle which features a classic style “star drag” under the arm end ,and is resting atop the raised gear box on right side-plate
